Who runs this
Hotel guest QR codes is a product of mixtape.works. The site and its data are run by mixtape.works. Write to support@mixtape.works with any question about your data.
What is stored
The hotel name and the room numbers that a hotel enters. For each person who may change the hotel, the mixtape account ID and their role; the account itself holds the name and e-mail address, and this product keeps only the name and e-mail shown in the menu for the length of a session. The places a hotel adds under Guide (their names, short texts, addresses and links) are kept with the hotel’s details. A room’s chat with a guest is one conversation, tied only to the cookie described below; it is kept for thirty days after its last message, guest or hotel, then deleted. If a hotel sets up front desk access, we keep a shared PIN and each named receptionist’s own, only as a one-way hash - never the digits themselves - and the receptionist’s name, if they typed one. They are kept in one database file on the server that runs this product. No guest name, document, e-mail address or stay date is ever asked for or stored.
Guests who scan a code
Opening a guest page stores nothing about the guest. Writing in a room’s chat sets one cookie, so that only your browser sees your own conversation and not another guest’s; the hotel sees every conversation for its rooms. A conversation and its cookie are kept for thirty days after the last message in it, then deleted.
Cookies
This product sets up to four cookies of its own. The first keeps you signed in while you set up or change a hotel, and is set only after you sign in with mixtape. The second is set only if you choose a language in the settings menu. The third is set only if you write in a room’s chat, one such cookie per room you write to. The fourth is set only on a front desk device, once a PIN opens it. The table below lists them.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| hotel_session | Keeps you signed in with your mixtape account while you change a hotel | Thirty days, or until you sign out |
| lang | Remembers the language you chose in the settings menu | One year |
| hotel_chat_<room> | Ties the messages you write in that room’s chat to your browser, so only you see your own conversation | Thirty days after the last message in that conversation |
| hotel_desk | Keeps a front desk device signed in after a PIN opens it | Thirty days, or until the desk signs out |
Page views
Public pages are counted in aggregate for mixtape.works’ statistics. Each count sends the page address, the referring site’s host name, the country and the device type. No cookie, identifier or address is used, and the count cannot be traced to you.
Newsletter
If you sign up for the newsletter at the foot of a page, the mixtape account service keeps your e-mail address, the list, your language and the dates you confirmed or left, to send you Hotel QR news – and mixtape news, if you ticked that box. You are only added once you confirm from the e-mail we send, every newsletter has a link to unsubscribe, and the mails go out through Amazon SES in the EU.
Fonts and scripts
Fonts and scripts are served from this site. Nothing is loaded from another company.
Your rights
A hotel’s owner can download all of its data as one ZIP file, or delete the hotel and everything in it for good, in the hotel’s settings under Your data. Deleting a hotel does not touch the owner’s mixtape account, and the backups we keep for 14 days let go of it within two weeks. For any other question or request about your data, write to support@mixtape.works.
